Just realized my spotter saved me from a bad swing last Tuesday

Had a chat with my spotter, Mike, while we were waiting on a concrete pour in Austin. He pointed out how I was lining up the boom with the sun in my eyes, which I'd done for years without thinking. He said, "You're not reading the load, you're reading the shadow," and honestly that stuck with me. Switched my approach to use hand signals more and trust his calls over my gut when the light's rough. It hit different because it wasn't about skill, it was about admitting my routine had a blind spot. Has anyone else had a crew member point out a habit you never noticed? How'd you adjust without feeling like you lost control?

Sun in your eyes" is exactly the kind of thing you don't catch until someone else points it out. I had a guy on my crew tell me I was always favoring the left side of a form because of how I stood, and once he said it, I couldn't unsee it. Now I just switch positions every few pours and let someone else call the line when the light's bad, it's not about losing control, it's about getting the job done right.
