Load swung on me at a gas plant in Odessa back in 2011

We were setting a heat exchanger and the wind picked up out of nowhere, the load started weathervaning so bad I had to set it down 20 feet off the pad. It took two riggers and a come-along to walk it back into position, and I still catch flak about that one from the old crew. Has anyone else had a load go sideways on them in open desert wind, or is it just my luck?

Quit acting like you wrestled a tornado in a movie. Wind in Odessa is basically a Tuesday, every single Tuesday. You set it down 20 feet off, so what, the pad was still in sight, right? I've seen guys have to walk a load a quarter mile back because they thought they could outsmart a gust. You had two riggers and a come-along, sounds like a slow afternoon, not a rescue mission. The old crew giving you flak is just their way of saying they miss seeing you sweat a little. Next time, drop it closer or wait ten minutes, the wind always backs off eventually.
