Pro tip: I thought tag lines on the boom were overkill until the swap at the yard last month
For the first six months on our 80 ton Liebherr I skipped the daily tag line check, figured the inspection sticker covered it. Then last month we swapped the main hoist line and the rigger showed me a photo of the old one: three broken outer wires in a hand length right behind the wedge socket. He said the tag line lets you feel and slow that section down before it pays out. I did the check every morning since and already caught a flat spot near the dead end. Any of you run a touch check on the line before your first pick, or do you wait for the monthly?
