Pro tip: swapped my wire rope slings for synthetic and it made a big difference in tight spots
I was using wire rope slings for years on a job site near Cleveland, but they kept kinking in the tight corners we were working. Switched to synthetic round slings last month and they bend way easier around beams without damage. Anyone else had better luck with one type over the other in confined spaces?

Brook, you're dead on about that nylon webbing trick. I started doing that after I ruined a brand new synthetic sling on some rusted steel I beams in a basement mechanical room. That "lack of metal fatigue" part is what sold me too. Wire rope always had those tiny broken strands that would cut your hands up, and I got tired of replacing them every few months from the constant flexing around tight corners. I had a lift last week in a crawlspace that would have been impossible with wire rope, but the synthetic just bent right around a HVAC duct like it was nothing.

Honestly, adding a little bit of nylon webbing around the edges of your synthetic slings helps protect them from sharp corners too, way better than wire ever did. Ngl, the lack of metal fatigue is a game changer in those tight spots.

Game changer" huh, guess I'll just have to trust you on that one before I go and duct tape my whole setup.
