Shoutout to my foreman for telling me to slow down on my swing radius

So I've been running this small lattice crawler for about 6 months now on a site in Denver. Last week my foreman pulled me aside and said I was swinging the load way too fast on every cycle. I thought he was just being old school and slow, you know? But then I actually tried it his way for a whole shift, keeping the speed down and being smoother on the brakes. Turns out my load control got way better and I wasn't fighting the swing as much at the end. Plus the crew on the ground said they felt safer because the load wasn't wobbling around. Has anyone else had a boss or older hand give you advice that you thought was dumb but actually worked out way better?

Funny how that works, isn't it? I think there's a bigger lesson here about how we all get in a hurry and forget that smooth is usually faster in the long run. It's the same with driving or even packing a lunch or something - trying to rush just makes things sloppier and you end up taking longer to fix the mess. Sounds like your foreman saved you a lot of headaches before you even knew you had them. Ever notice how the people who've been doing something forever rarely seem in a rush?

Oh man, you hit the nail on the head. I've been trying to teach myself that exact thing in the kitchen, no joke. Whenever I try to chop veggies super fast I end up with uneven pieces that cook weird, or I nick my finger. But when I slow down and just focus on doing it right, I'm actually done sooner and the whole meal comes together better. That idea about old timers never rushing is so true too - my grandpa could fix anything on his truck in half the time it took me and he moved like he had all day.
