Shoutout to that Wednesday in July that nearly broke me

I was running a 100-ton crawler on a bridge job in Columbus, setting steel beams in 93 degree heat, and my swing brake started slipping around 2 PM. Had to bring in a backup crane to finish the lift while I spent the rest of the day bleeding air out of the hydraulic lines in a cloud of mosquitoes. Has anyone else had a machine fail right at the worst possible moment on a tight deadline?

That Wednesday in July sounds like it had it out for you.

Are you sure it was that bad? I've had plenty of frustrating days that felt huge in the moment but looking back I barely remember them. Maybe it was just a rough patch that seems bigger than it actually was.

Wait, you had to bleed air out of the lines while being eaten alive by mosquitoes in 93-degree heat, and that's just the afternoon part? That sounds like a full day from hell before you even got to the part where the crane failed.
