Swung a load into a support beam in Houston last Thursday and realized my ground guide was waving at a buddy, not me.

That near miss made me ditch hand signals for radio comms on site and now I make everyone confirm each lift over headset, anyone else run into miscommunication issues with the old hand signal system?

Man, that's rough. I mean, it's scary how fast something can go sideways when someone's not paying attention. Idk why people think they can multitask during something that dangerous, but it happens way too often. Good call switching to radios, honestly. It's not just you, I've seen guys almost get crushed because a hand signal got mixed up with a regular gesture or someone just spaced out for a second. Better to have everyone on headsets and double check every move than to gamble with people's safety.
