TIL some crews treat pre-lift checks like a speed run to please the foreman

Last job, I watched a guy gloss over the load chart because the supervisor was tapping his watch. That kind of rush job is how a small mistake turns into a big accident. We have to stop letting schedule pressure make us skip steps, even if it means a tough talk with the boss. Your rig and your crew depend on those few extra minutes.

Tell your boss the load chart isn't optional, @lunar89.

A good crew balances speed and safety without skipping steps.

But what if a step doesn't make things safer? In my book, a good crew knows when to leave those out.

WHAT. Skipping steps that don't add safety is one thing, but how do you even decide that? Like, leaving out the step to check a ladder's locking mechanism because you're in a hurry? That's just asking for a fall. Some steps are there because someone got hurt before. That's not a balance, that's gambling.
