A $15 credit report pull in Phoenix: the best or worst money I ever spent?
I paid about $15 at a kitchen table in Phoenix to pull all three of my reports before applying for a rental, and it caught a collections item from 2019 that I never knew about, which my landlord later said would have killed my application. On the other side, my buddy did the same thing and got hit with a monthly subscription he forgot to cancel, so he's out $240 now. So I keep going back and forth on whether these paid pulls are a smart move or a trap, and I want to hear from people who've been burned vs saved by one.
