Finally got a credit bump from removing an old collections mistake
Paid $40 for a certified mail dispute to a credit bureau and got a 30 point boost after they finally removed a $200 medical bill from 7 years ago, anyone else had luck with old medical collections dropping off?

Gotta say I see this a little differently. Paying $40 just to get a 30 point bump on something that old seems like a lot of money for not that much gain, especially when medical bills under $500 are supposed to fall off after 7 years anyway. I mean, maybe it's just me but you probably could have waited it out for free and saved that cash. The credit scoring system already has enough fees and gotchas without us throwing more money at it for things that should happen automatically. Just my two cents though.
