My buddy's 'just dispute everything' credit plan versus my slow rebuild
He spent six months disputing every single old account on his report, even the accurate ones, and his score barely moved. I focused on paying down my car loan balance by $2,000 and got a secured card, and my score jumped 40 points in four months. Anyone else see better results from actually fixing your debt instead of trying to game the system?

Did your buddy's disputes actually get anything removed, or did the credit bureaus just verify all that old info and leave it there? I've heard that strategy can backfire if they mark your disputes as frivolous.

Yeah, "actually fixing your debt" is the real move. Same thing happened with me and @felixlane, paying down my balances did way more than any dispute nonsense ever did.

Remember when everyone said to just spam disputes? I tried that years ago and it got me nowhere fast. Actually paying stuff down like you did is the only thing that ever worked for me.
