My credit score jumped 40 points after I fixed a single old address error

I was looking at my report from Credit Karma last month and saw my old apartment in Phoenix was still listed as current, even though I moved out three years ago. I filed a dispute online and it was gone in about two weeks. Has anyone else had a simple mistake like that hold their score back for so long?

That's awesome, but just to clarify, Credit Karma shows you a VantageScore, not the FICO score most lenders actually use. My FICO only moved like 10 points when I fixed a similar old employer listing. It's still a win, but the jump might be different depending on which score you check.

Yeah, that tracks. My credit journey is basically just me getting excited about a VantageScore jump, then checking my actual FICO and feeling like I got a participation trophy. Fixed an old address last month and celebrated a 40 point CK bump. The FICO move was so small I needed a magnifying glass to see it.

Check your actual FICO score through your card issuer or myFICO. Most lenders use those numbers, not the VantageScore you see on free sites. That way you won't get surprised when you apply for something real.
