My landlord said my credit score was fine but my rental history was the real problem

I spent months obsessing over my credit score, paid off $1,200 in collections, got it up to 680. My landlord in Phoenix approved me but said the reason she almost said no was because of an eviction filing from 4 years ago that I didn't even know about. Turns out a previous roommate had put my name on a court notice without me knowing. She told me you need to run your own tenant screening report, not just check your credit. I found the error, got it expunged, and now I check both before applying anywhere. Has anyone else had a rental history mistake pop up that had nothing to do with your credit score?

that eviction filing from 4 years ago that I didn't even know about" - oh man that's wild. I mean I've had something kinda similar where a landlord told me I had a "no pets" violation on my record from an apartment I never even lived in. Took me like three phone calls to figure out it was a different person with my same name in a different state.

Disagree honestly, that sounds like a different situation entirely.

Wait, someone had the exact same name and everything? That's honestly terrifying.
