Rental history vs credit score, landlord picked the wrong one
Had to choose between boosting my credit score with a 2 year old collections payoff or paying a $1,200 landlord fee in Denver to get proof of rental history. I went with the fee route after 3 months of trying to argue with the furnisher. Bad move, the landlord still wanted my credit anyway and the collections stayed. Would've been better off throwing that money at a secured card on the spot. Has anyone else had a landlord ignore rental history and just stare at your FICO?

Wait, did paying that fee actually get you anywhere with the landlord's decision?

Oh yeah, totally! I paid a similar fee once and the landlord basically just shrugged and said thanks, still took someone else a week later, so I feel your pain, @harpercampbell. It felt like I was just funding their coffee runs for nothing.
