That moment my credit report showed an old apartment in Buffalo I never lived at
I was sitting in the rental office in Phoenix trying to get approved for a place and the landlord pulled up a collection from a complex I'd never even visited, so I had to spend three days on the phone with Equifax to get it removed before I lost the unit.

Went through the same thing with a random car loan in Michigan last year.

Did anybody else get that sinking feeling when you realize a total stranger's debt somehow became your problem? I remember once I got a letter from a collection agency for a power bill in a state I had never even set foot in, and it took me a solid month of back and forth to prove I wasn't that guy. Worst part is, my own credit was already mediocre, so this phantom bill made me look like I was running a scam on myself. Made me wonder if I should start checking my credit report for apartments I've never seen just to be safe.

Was it really an error though, or did you just not update your address when you moved?
