Told a lender no on a rapid rescore and saved myself $800 in Boulder
Three years back I was buying a duplex in Boulder and my loan officer pushed me to pay $800 for a rapid rescore service to bump my score 20 points before closing. I said no and instead spent six weeks paying down a $1,400 card balance on my own, which got me the same 22 point jump for free, and we still closed on time. Anyone else think the whole rapid rescore pitch is mostly a way for lenders to pad their fees, or did it actually work for you?
Ha, meanwhile I once paid for a rapid rescore and my score went up 6 points, so basically I bought a fancy cup of coffee. Good on you for doing the math and just paying the card down yourself. Six weeks and no fee beats their six days and 800 bucks in my book.
