Tried a rapid rescore before my mortgage application and it backfired
I paid a company in Austin $350 to dispute three old medical collections on my report, thinking it would boost my score for a house loan. Instead, the disputes triggered a full account review that dropped my score 22 points because an old card I forgot about got closed. Has anyone else seen a rapid rescore go sideways like this, or should I have just waited it out?

Look at it this way, a 22 point drop sucks but it's not the end of the world. Scores bounce back all the time from stuff like this. You probably just got unlucky with that old account review.

Yeah, the "full account review" part is what gets you. I always figured a rapid rescore was a safe bet, but hearing stuff like this makes me think it's a total gamble.

But what if the review actually helps in the long run? @ruby_wright, sometimes that full look finds old errors that were hurting you more. A short term drop could fix bigger problems for a higher score later. It's not always just random bad luck.
