Unpopular opinion: DIY credit repair is better than hiring a company in most cases
I see people dropping $500 on a credit repair service in Atlanta when they could just dispute wrong accounts themselves for free. How many of you have actually fixed your score without paying someone vs. getting burned by a sketchy firm?

Take it from someone who actually tried the DIY route first... I messed things up so bad it took me an extra year to get my score where I wanted it. The pros know what they're doing with the legal wording and timing, and they won't accidentally wake up old debts like I did.

I fixed my score 47 points in 3 months just using the free Credit Karma dispute tool.

Has anyone else ever DIY'd something so badly you basically set your money on fire and called it a lesson learned? I once tried to fix a credit dispute myself and ended up disputing my own mom's name by accident, so yeah, I feel your pain.
