Wasted $150 on a credit monitoring service that was basically useless

I signed up for CreditSage back in February cause they promised direct landlord reporting and real time updates. Turns out they dont actually work with any property managers in my area and the scores they showed were 40 points higher than what my landlord pulled. Anyone else get burned by one of these so called repair services?

Oof, so I basically paid $150 for a fantasy credit score.

Pull your free annual credit report directly from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion instead.

Oh man, that sucks. The real kicker nobody talks about is that these services often use a different credit scoring model than landlords and property managers. Landlords usually pull your FICO score specifically through something like TransUnion's ResidentScore or Experian's RentBureau, not VantageScore that most of these apps use. Theres a 40-60 point gap built right into the system. You basically paid for fake good news and got blindsided by reality.
