DAE struggle with leaving a group when your whole friend circle is still in it?

So I was part of this small group for about 3 years that started as a book club but turned into something way more controlling, and I finally got out 7 months ago. The hard part was that my two closest friends stayed in, and one of them stopped texting me for 5 weeks after I quit. I had to decide between keeping my mouth shut and staying connected to them, or telling them the things that worried me about the leader's rules on money and who we could talk to. I picked telling them the truth, and it blew up, but one of them quietly reached out to me 4 weeks later asking how I got out. For people who left a group, how did you handle the friends who stayed? Did you try to pull them out or just let them come to you?
