My candle making mentor turned out to be a real cult leader

I joined a small candle making class in Austin last spring because the lady who ran it had this amazing lavender scent, but after three weeks I noticed everyone had to call her 'Mother Flame' and we were all chanting during the pouring phase. I finally caught on when she tried to sell us her 'energy wax' for $120 a block and said our normal Walmart supplies were 'blocking our spiritual light'. Has anyone else accidentally joined a hobby group that was secretly recruiting for something way darker?
