My mom's hospice nurse called COS a 'good group' and I froze

Last Tuesday I was sitting with my mom in Phoenix while the nurse chatted about her weekend, and she casually mentioned how the Church of Scientology runs a great volunteer program at her church. I didn't say anything because my mom was right there and I didn't want to start a fight, but it's been eating at me for a week. Has anyone else had to just sit quiet when someone praises a group you know has a red flag history, and how do you handle it without blowing up the room?
