My neighbor spent 22 years in a group and said the hardest part was the grocery runs, not the meetings
My neighbor Dale got out of a group in 2019 that he was in since he was 19, and he came by while I was washing my car and we got to talking about the documentaries. He said the ones on TV always focus on the leader screaming and the compound gates, but nobody shows the paperwork. He had to hand over his paycheck every Friday for two decades and ask permission to buy toothpaste, and he said building a normal budget again at 41 was harder than leaving. Last thing he told me was that the newest members did all the manual labor while the older ones did the recruiting. Anyone read or watched something that actually covers the money side of these groups?
