One comment from a survivor on my hot take made me rethink the whole doc
I posted a long theory about the NXIVM finale in here last week, and someone who actually left the group pointed out I was blaming the victims by focusing on 'why they stayed'. Tbh, that stung, but it changed how I watch any cult doc now, so is it fair to critique the people inside, or should we only talk about the leaders and system?

...and honestly that hit way too close to home because I do the same thing with true crime docs, like I'll be yelling at the screen "why didn't you run" and meanwhile I once stayed in a job for three years because they had free coffee. But yeah, I think you can still ask questions about people's choices without making it their fault, the system's the one that rigs the game.
