The binder of 'truth' that took me 3 years to dump
I used to keep every newsletter and transcript from a group I followed online back in 2018, around 200 pages in a three-ring binder. One night I spilled coffee on it and while wiping pages, I realized every article had the same three citations recycled over and over. That tipped me off that I was basically collecting fan fiction, not evidence. Has anyone else gone through a similar purge where the physical weight of it made the break easier?

Just keep in mind the coffee spill might have done you a favor, but the real lesson was about how we attach meaning to printed paper. A binder full of recycled citations can feel like a security blanket, even when your gut knows it's hollow. Your mileage may vary, but ditching the physical object often makes the mental break way cleaner.
