The realization that hit me during a 2am IV start

I used to think cult dynamics were this abstract thing, then I watched a patient's family member talk exactly like a Scientology recruitment video last week, same tone, same refusal to answer direct questions. Has anyone else spotted those patterns in real life and gotten totally weirded out?
