Why does nobody talk about how the 'exit counselor' industry just makes new believers?
My cousin got pulled out of a group in Reno by a hired exit counselor back in 2011, and within 18 months she was fully bought into that guy's own program instead. He charged her family $8,000, moved her into a house with other 'survivors,' and gave her a curfew and a list of banned books. These people run the same playbook as the groups they claim to rescue, just with better branding. Has anyone followed up on the bigger names in that field after the fact, or is it all just survivor stories about the first cult and never the second one?
