Got locked out of my email for 3 days because I fell for a fake password reset text last Tuesday

I clicked a link that looked exactly like my provider's login page and then spent 3 days on hold with real support while my inbox filled up with unread work messages, has anyone else almost lost a job over a dumb phishing scam?

@xena582 nailed it, we're just setup to fail here.

Three different people in my neighborhood alone have been hit with that exact same fake login page trick in the past month. It's not just email either, I see it everywhere now with delivery notifications and bank alerts too. The real problem is that companies keep making their security harder to use while the scammers keep making their fakes easier to believe. Nobody is going to sit there and scrutinize every single text or email they get all day, we'd never get anything done. We need simpler systems that protect us without expecting everyone to be a security expert.

This whole thing is just another part of how broken online security is now. We're all expected to be experts at spotting fake emails and texts, but the scammers copy everything perfectly. It's like driving on a highway where the signs are swapped around every week. Nobody gives us real training, just blame when we mess up.
