Had a perfect week of zero scam emails, then realized I'd been auto-deleting them from a filter I set up 2 years ago

Turns out that filter I created in a rage after falling for a phishing link in 2023 has been quietly catching everything, and I only noticed because my spam folder went empty for 5 days straight - has anyone else had a filter work so well you forgot it existed?

Read a study saying most filters stop working after 6 months.

Wow wait, hold on - six months? That seems like a lot longer than what I've seen with my own filters. In my experience, those cheap carbon ones in my fridge start tasting funny after like 3-4 months max, and the vacuum filter I had to replace way sooner than that. I guess it depends on the brand and how much you use it though, your mileage may really vary on that one. I'd be skeptical of any filter claiming to last a full half year without losing effectiveness, myself.

Bro that's actually kinda genius, those rage filters usually break after a month but yours went full autopilot. Now I'm paranoid about what else my past self might have set and forgot about.
