Heard a sysadmin say 2FA is mostly a placebo for big companies - made me rethink my whole setup
They argued that targeted phishing still bypasses MFA easily, but I still feel better having it on personal accounts. Do you think authenticator apps are mostly just security theater for average users?

Man, I feel you on this one. Honestly, I think keeping 2FA is still way better than nothing, even if it's not perfect. Yeah, a determined hacker can get around it sometimes, but it's gonna stop a ton of random guessers and script kids from breaking into your stuff. For the average person, it's like locking your front door - a pro can pick it, but it keeps the majority out. I'd rather have that little bit of extra peace of mind than leave it wide open lol.

That front door analogy really hits home, totally with you.

Locking your front door" doesn't stop someone from just smashing a window, so what's the point?
