Hot take: That 'free' VPN cost me $200 in fraudulent charges
I grabbed a popular free VPN app last month for some public Wi-Fi, and my card got skimmed. They must have been logging everything. Anyone know a trustworthy paid service that's actually secure?

Man, that's brutal. Free VPNs are a total minefield. They gotta make money somehow, and selling your data is usually how. Had a buddy get his PayPal drained after using one of those sketchy browser extensions. For a paid service, ProtonVPN has a solid free tier too, but their paid version is what I use now.

Windscribe's free plan gives you 10GB a month without selling your data, which is pretty decent.

But what if they're just not telling you how they make money?
