I finally read the fine print on my password manager's privacy policy

Last night I was bored and actually read through Bitwarden's privacy policy and found out they collect metadata on your IP and device type even with encryption. That got me wondering what other services are quietly grabbing data we don't expect. Anyone else ever dig into their security tool's policies and find something sketchy?

Yeah I found similar stuff in LastPass. Made me rethink trusting them completely.

Best thing I did was move everything into a local manager like Bitwarden that I self-host. At least then if they get breached it's my own screw up, not some corporate negligence. Piece of mind is worth the small hassle of setting it up.

Wait wait wait. Bitwarden collects IPs? That's messed up.
