I finally realized my old password trick was a huge security flaw

I got a notification about a login attempt from a city 300 miles away, which made me see that using simple word variations for all my accounts was a bad idea. Has anyone else had a scare that made them switch to a proper password manager?

Wait, a login attempt from 300 miles away? That's wild! What finally tipped you off, did you get an email or a text? I used to do the same thing with my passwords, just adding a number at the end. Getting a password manager felt like a huge relief, I don't have to remember anything now.

Ugh, same! I got a weird text alert and it freaked me out enough to finally change all my stuff.

Seriously? Password managers are just another single point of failure. @daniel_cooper34, you're trusting one company with all your keys now. My old system of variations was fine, I just needed to make the base word stronger.
