I keep seeing people use the same password for everything and it's a huge risk

A friend told me last week he uses one password for his email, bank, and even his work login. He said it's easy to remember. The problem is, if one site gets hacked, they have the key to everything else. I read that over 80% of data breaches start with a stolen password. Using a password manager, even a free one, is the simplest fix. It creates and stores a different strong password for every account. Has anyone else had to explain this to a friend or family member?

Yeah the "easy to remember" part is the trap lol. It's way easier to just let a manager remember it for you.

My buddy's password manager got hacked last year and he lost access to everything. That's the part that scares me off. I just write mine down in a little notebook I keep at home. It's old school, but at least it's not floating around on some company's server. Feels like less can go wrong that way.

Ugh, tell me about it. I just use the same three passwords for everything now and accept my fate.
