Switched my password manager after getting locked out of my own email last month

I used to just write down all my passwords in a notebook stored in my desk drawer. Thought that was good enough until I needed an old login for my bank while traveling and couldn't get home to find it. So last month I moved everything to Bitwarden, the free version, and set up two factor authentication on my phone. Now I can access all my accounts from anywhere, but I'm still paranoid about losing my master password. Has anyone ever gotten locked out of their password manager and how did you get back in?

Same scary hitting that master password confirmation blank" - but honestly, isn't that kind of the point? If it wasn't scary you'd probably be too casual with it and lose access for real.
