Unpopular opinion: password managers are overhyped for home users

Last month my mom got locked out of her bank account because her manager auto-filled the wrong saved password after a site update. Took us 2 days and a phone call to fix, meanwhile her sticky note method never failed in 15 years. Anyone else think the extra layer causes more problems than it solves for non-tech people?
