Update: I paid $29 for a "password checker" app that was just a fancy text box
Last month I got spooked after a friend's email got hacked, so I went looking for a password strength tool and paid $29 for some app I found on a random site. It said it would check if my logins were leaked, but all it really did was count the characters I typed and give me a green checkmark. I typed in "password123" just to test it and it told me my password was strong, which is when I knew I got scammed. Now I just use the free tools built into my browser and a paper notebook kept in a drawer. Has anyone else paid for a security app that turned out to be useless?
