A mall janitor in Dayton told me the food court fountain has run dry since 2009, and that's the only reason the arcade next door stayed open
He said the arcade owner rerouted the fountain's pump line to keep his 40 machines from overheating, and now I look at dead fountains in every dying mall completely differently. Anyone else ever get a maintenance guy to spill the real story behind an empty wing?

That bit about the fountain pump keeping the arcade machines alive is wild and kind of sad at the same time. Real shame what happened to those old malls.
