I drove 40 minutes to the Garden State Plaza Sears thinking it was still open and got yelled at by a guy guarding an empty anchor store
That trip taught me to check the mall's store directory on the website before I leave the house, because the only thing left in that wing was a phone case kiosk run by a guy who said he hadn't seen a customer in 3 days.

Man, I once drove 30 minutes to a Best Buy that had been closed for a year, so you're in good company. At least your kiosk guy got some human contact out of the deal.
