Serious question, do you shoot the empty concourse with a phone or bring the real camera?
I tried both at the dying mall off Route 9 in Poughkeepsie on a weekday morning, and the phone shots came out flat and grainy under those old skylights while my old Canon with a 35mm lens held the shadows fine at ISO 800. The trick was shooting an hour after opening when the sun angle hits the tile floor, not at noon. Has anyone else found a time of day that works better in these places?
