Shoutout to the dead mall in West Mifflin, PA that took me 3 visits to find the one store still open
I keep seeing people post about dead malls and act like one walk through is enough to see everything, but that is just not how it works. I went to Century III Mall near Pittsburgh three separate times over two months because I kept hearing a rumor about a store open in the back wing. First trip I walked maybe half the place and found nothing but dark halls and a old pretzel stand with the sign still up. Second trip I brought a flashlight and a map from 2004 and still missed it because a gate was chained shut near the old Sears. Third time a guy in the parking lot told me to go through the food court side and up the dead escalator, and there it was, a little cell phone repair shop with the lights on and a guy watching a tiny TV. It took me almost 9 hours total across those trips just to find one open business, which sounds insane but I think that is the real deal with these places. Has anyone else had a mall take multiple trips before you found the last shop standing, or am I just bad at reading old floor plans?
