Bought a $40 'professional grade' caulking tool set online
The silicone spatula thing was supposed to give me perfect smooth joints but it left more ridges than my actual finger. First time using it on a bathtub in my own house and now I've got to chip it all out and start over. Anyone else fall for a tool that makes simple jobs harder?

Caulking is one of those jobs where the simple way actually works better. Every time I've tried one of those fancy tools I end up right back to using my finger and a little soapy water. The ridges and lines come from not having a consistent angle or pressure, which those gadgets don't help with anyway. If you really want to get it right without starting over entirely, try wiping it down with a damp sponge right after you run the bead instead of chipping it all out. Might save you some time and frustration.

Sponge method works way better than scratching it all off for sure though.
