Had to choose between a $60 HDMI cable and a $12 one last week

I was setting up a new gaming monitor and Best Buy tried to sell me on some premium 8K cable for $60. The guy said the cheap ones would cause lag and signal loss. I grabbed a $12 one from Amazon instead and honestly it works perfect, zero issues so far. Anyone else feel like the markup on cables is just a straight up scam?

Monster cable was pulling that same scam years ago... $60 is insane for something that either works or doesn't. Picked up a $10 one from Monoprice for my PS5 and it's been flawless too.

Wait, did Best Buy actually try to sell you on "lag" from an HDMI cable... that's a new one on me. What's their angle, do they think we're all just clueless?
