The $89 'discount' I nearly fell for on a refurbished router
Last month I saw a refurbished router listed at $89, marked down from $160, and almost bought it. Then I spotted the same model new for $95 at a local Best Buy in Austin. Anyone else notice refurbished electronics rarely save you more than $10 once shipping gets added?

I used to grab refurbs all the time and thought I was getting a steal. Then I started doing the math and it wasn't adding up. Bought a refurb monitor last year for $120, paid $18 shipping, and two weeks later saw the same one new on sale for $130 with free shipping. The only time it pays off is when the store lets you pick it up, like an open box item at Micro Center. Once you add shipping and the shorter warranty, that $10 or $15 you save disappears.
