Saw a "$19 smartwatch" pop up in a Facebook ad, and the guy selling it gave me the best answer I've ever gotten from a seller
A couple months back I was scrolling Facebook at like 11pm and this ad pops up for a smartwatch, 19 bucks, free shipping. I knew it was junk but I commented "what's the catch" just to see what would happen. The seller actually replied to me in a DM within 10 minutes. No script, no copy paste nonsense. He goes "look man, the watch is 19 dollars, but I make my money on the 6 dollar extended warranty and the 12 dollar screen protector bundle at checkout. Half the people who buy this thing add both and I clear like 15 bucks a unit." He flat out admitted the watch itself was a loss leader and the real product was the upsells. I sat there for a second and honestly respected the honesty more than the deal. He even said "if you want one just buy the watch and skip the bundle, it's the same thing either way." I skipped it but now every time I see one of these too good to be true ads I wonder if the seller is that upfront about where the money actually comes from. How many of you have had a seller straight up tell you the deal is fake but the add ons are the real business?

That happened to me with a phone case once, guy told me flat out the case was a buck fifty wholesale and the real money was in the tempered glass. Honestly made me trust him more. Weird how that works.
