That "93% of people are burnt out" stat came from 47 responses on a LinkedIn poll in Ohio
I popped open the original LinkedIn poll behind that viral burnout number everyone keeps reposting, and the source was one guy in Columbus with 47 votes total. The "93%" was literally 44 people who clicked a button on their lunch break, no margin of error, no age breakdown, nothing. Then it got turned into a bar chart graphic and reshared 40,000 times in 3 days. How many other stats floating around right now are just somebody's lunch poll dressed up as research?

So some guy's lunch poll goes viral and now the whole thing is fake news? That seems like a stretch. People share stuff like this because it matches how they already feel, not because they think it's a peer reviewed study. The real issue is lazy writers at big sites who grab a number like this without checking, and that's been happening forever. Remember that "we only use 10% of our brains" thing? Total made up, still gets repeated. A dumb LinkedIn poll isn't the problem, the people who repost it as fact are, and that's on them not the guy in Columbus.
