That pollster who challenged my sample size in a coffee shop
Last Tuesday in Portland, I was explaining a local survey I ran about bike lane usage to a stranger. He interrupted and said, 'You only talked to 40 people, that means nothing.' I told him it was a pilot test, not the final data. He then pulled up a national poll on his phone with 2,000 responses to prove his point. Has anyone else had a random person dismiss your work because they compared it to a much bigger dataset without context?
