That viral '99% of people can't solve this' math puzzle from last week had me fooled until I ran the numbers
I saw that Facebook post last Tuesday where it shows a simple equation like 2+2x2 and claims 99% of people get it wrong. Looked legit at first, I even commented my answer thinking I was smart. Then I actually wrote it out step by step using order of operations, PEMDAS style, and realized the real trick is how the post is designed to farm engagement. After checking 50 comments, about 60% of people got it right anyway, not 1% like they claimed. The page just wanted shares and arguments to boost their algorithm score. Has anyone else noticed these fake stat posts waste everyone's time while the creator profits?

Those bait posts are everywhere now and it's frustrating how easy they are to fall for. I remember one about "99% of people can't spot the hidden number" that got me good. I stared at that dumb picture for like ten minutes until I gave up and scrolled through the comments. Turned out the trick was just a photoshopped image that didn't actually have a number in it at all. The page just wanted people arguing back and forth to boost their reach. Now I just scroll past anything with that "99%" nonsense because it's always engagement farming.

Gotta push back a little here. I actually find those posts kind of fun sometimes. I know they're obviously engagement bait but I still get a kick out of trying to spot whatever gimmick they're hiding. The real trick is just not letting it bother you when you can't find it. Treat it like those magic eye puzzles from the 90s just a silly distraction, not a personal challenge.
