Unpopular opinion: that viral poll about 80% of people being happy at work is total garbage
I used to believe those numbers because they came from a big research firm, but then my buddy Dave in HR showed me how they only surveyed salaried office workers at Fortune 500 companies. My mom works at a warehouse in Phoenix and nobody she knows ever got that survey. The sample is completely skewed. Has anyone here actually been polled for one of those workplace happiness stats?

Honestly I get why people hate on those polls but I actually think they might be close to right. Most desk jobs are pretty chill once you have decent pay and weekends off. My brother works at a startup and him and his whole team would definitely say they're happy.

Wait his whole team is happy? That's wild to me because I've never met a single startup employee who wasn't burned out or worried about layoffs. My cousin worked at a startup and they were all expected to answer emails at 10pm and work every other Saturday. The CEO literally called it "hustle culture" like it was a good thing. Your brother must have found the one healthy startup on earth or something.

The ONLY way that survey is accurate is if they asked people right after their third cup of coffee on casual Friday. My neighbor works for a "prestigious" company that made that list and she told me the boss literally installs cameras in the break room to make sure nobody takes more than 15 minutes for lunch. "Happy at work" my foot. More like "paid enough to smile through the pain.
