Finally debunked that fake video of the 'talking dog' my aunt kept sharing on Facebook
She swore it was real, so I spent 20 minutes tracking down the original clip from a 2019 circus show in Ohio where the dog was just reacting to cues. Turns out the audio was completely spliced from a different video. Has anyone else had to fact-check a family member's viral post and found it was way more edited than they thought?

The dog was just reacting to cues" - this is actually worse than you think. My neighbor runs a local news site and she says people will edit videos and then post them in small Facebook groups where they get reshared until they look legit. The whole "talking dog" thing is just the latest way to test how much garbage people will believe about animals.

Noticed the same pattern with recipes and home repair tutorials too. People will add fake steps or ingredients just to get more shares and it all feels like the same clickbait game. @brookeellis hit it right about the small groups being the testing ground for this stuff.

Exactly @brookeellis, the small Facebook groups are where this garbage really spreads like wildfire.
